Remote Login Process for UH Applications
If the need arises for our caregivers to connect remotely to UH computer systems, Information Technology is prepared and has options in place for you to maintain a connection to UH. Gaining access to work remotely is a two-step process, as outlined below. As situations related to coronavirus COVID-19 are rapidly evolving, please be proactive in ensuring you know how to stay connected in the event you are called upon to work remotely.
Step 1: Registration Required for Remote Access
If you have not already, it is necessary to complete the Remote Access User Registration process before you can access UH applications remotely. Remote access will require you to receive a text message on your mobile device (text message rates may apply). Please register your cell phone number while you are still in the building and connected to the UH network by selecting Register User in the left menu. If you have already registered for remote access to applications such as myUHhr.org, VDI, VPN, Oracle EDA, Outlook Web Access and others, you do not need to re-register.
Step 2: Caregiver Options for Remote Access
Caregiver Scenario |
Action |
---|---|
You need an easy way to access UH email | Log in to mail.uhhospitals.org with your UH ID and password. |
You have a UH-issued laptop |
Use the UH laptop to connect with VPN. Virtual Private Network (VPN) application can be found under Start/Cisco/Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Tip – If you have not recently used your laptop for remote access, make sure you can login to the laptop while you are still in the building and connected to the UH network. |
You do not have a UH laptop, but you have a personal computer at home |
Go to the UH Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). In order to install the UH Virtual Desktop application, go to myaccess.uhhospitals.org and choose “UH Virtual Desktop” from the left hand screen. This will install the application “VMWare Horizon Client” on your personal computer and will allow you to connect to the UH Virtual Desktop. If you find your applications are not available in UH Virtual Desktop, contact the UH Service Desk at 216-844-3327. |
You do not have a personal computer at home |
IT can temporarily issue a laptop, based on need and priority. Please discuss with your manager. Based on manager approval, a request to the UH Service Desk can then be made. Before leaving the office or a UH site, make sure you can login to the laptop you will be using and it works correctly while connected to a UH Network. |
You use applications or workflows that will not work on a home computer |
